I have a 91 3.8 Tbird and was wondering what year cars would have the same parts on them?

I am mainly concerned about engine and drive line parts ie: engine, alternator, starter, tranny, heads, intake, exhaust, rear end.

Any help would be appreciated.

More importantly will an 89 SC starter work on my 91 v6?

If it's from an auto it should, I'm not sure if the starters are different for a manual or not.

The powertrain on the 89-93 3.8s are all close enough that you can make em work without much work. The wiring made a major change in 92 though. 89-91 has been the same for me so far (except the tach wire on my 91 was tan/yellow and the 89 and 90 EVTMs show black/green).

The heads are the same between 89 and 95 T-Bird 3.8s In 96 they changed the water ports to match the SC (due to the headgasket issue). SC heads won't interchange.

The actual intake manifolds are about the same all the way up to 98 (my brother's 98 mustang had the same intake as my 91 bird, before he put a 4.6 in ;) )

The shortblock is the same (or interchangable) between 89-95 also.

Transmissions for 5.0 or 3.8Ls (the 4.6 auto won't) will bolt up, the SC or 5.0 AOD is a little tougher but the auto trans from 94-95 SC's is comupter controlled. You can swap a 5-speed from an SC in, but theres a little work involved, and you'll have to do some balancing, as the SC crank is neutral balanced and the N/A is not.

The actual rear ends are interchangeable (I know someone who swapped an 8.8 rear from an SC in). There are alot of different one's out there though (2.73, 3.08 and 3.27 gearings, 8.8" and 7.5", trac-loc, and open.....)
