How does your 4R70W car accomplish the 3-4 shift at light-medium throttle? My car has an awfully slow 3-4 shift, and it jumps ~500rpm's during this shift. The 1-2 & 2-3 shifts are very quick and nice otherwise.

It's a little bit mushy, but not unusually. I think my 2-3 would have to be the softest shift. I refuse to vote though until I get my manual valve body installed though.

It was pretty slow, then when I got my tranny fluid flushed.. Man that got fixed real quick.

It's kind of mushy / mediocre right now, I'm sure with the proper mods that can be fixed.

you really should not be ever shifting at wide open throttle into overdrive.

Just click overdrive on when you are ready to cruise on the highway, and don't beat up your OD band.

Well I have the J-Mod and a manual lockup switch to force the torque converter clutch to lock and stay locked. If I leave the switch in the unlocked position so the converter won't lock, then you can barely feel OD engage. In Auto position you can feel it pretty good, it's soft unless you modulate the throttle just right. If I have the converter clutch manually locked then it'll hit pretty good, feels like the 2-3 shift does at light throttle.

Does a chip make it lock up for the 3-4 shift.

A chip can do anything you want it to do. Most of the time, when shifting the converter should be unlocked. stock programming will keep it unlocked in first and second, then slip the clutch in third, and fully lock it in forth. It unlocks between gears. I don't like the slipping, or unlocking when the throttle is returned to idle, so I put a switch in to force it to do what I want. When I can afford a chip I'll just have it lock only in forth, and keep my manual override in case I want to lock it in any other gear.

I ordered my Apten Chip 11 days ago. I live in MT, has anyone else had it take this long?

I can now say that my 3-4 shift, along with the rest of them, is quite firm. I have now voted.

Mines quick and somewhat firm, similar to the 2-3 shift. '97 Mark VIII (91k), 300+ Jmod, no lower springs, upgraded 1-2 upper, Mercon V, B&M 28000 gvw cooler, SCT standard PCM reflash.

It was good before JW's tune, but drivability went way up after the tune...holds the gears and controls the TC lock/unlock functions a lot better.
