anybody have any experience with wheel spacers? i was lookin to get a set of 03' cobra R 's in black. i went down to the local ford dealer to get an alignment and i asked about spacers. they told me stories about how they heard wheels just falling off. but my friend has a set of spacers on his mustang and he has no problems. so are spacers a good way to go?

what makes you think you are gonna need spacers?? What are the specs on the wheels you are looking at?

I would recomend using a Billet hubcentric spacer if you need to use them. What happens is the cheep cast spacers that the masses use crack/fail and you lose your spacer so now your lugs are no longer tight...Use your imagination a lil bit.

Most of the 03 Cobra wheels are going to hang out of the wheel well a bit so no need for spacers it just depends on the offset/backspace and width of the wheel.

if you cant afford the billet hubcentric spacers, i would buy a set of baerbreaks spacer and use wheels locks of your wheels to stabilize the wheels. i went with this configuration and never had any problems with my 03 cobra and cobra R's on both my t-bird and mark viii. i had bought both of my wheels with the specs of 4.25;36mm thunderbird pattern and still the fronts still rub on both of the cars, so i went with with the baer wheel spacers. good luck. shop around for prices and go with the smallest size they make.

I got mine from pep boys and they seem pretty good so far. Seem 2 be made of aluminum and r 8$ a piece! I'm running 2005-2009 mustang gt 18 by 9 polished bullitts and u have 2 have spacers 4 the front.. But I put some in the back also 2 make the wheel a bit more even with the fender lip. They look great!!

Ramon, if you are running our wheels you should not need spacers. If you do need spacers then your front end needs inspected.

Wheel Spacers

i totally agree with brad, if you must need/use spacers the put on the hub-centric
billet spacers but remember thread length....at leat the diameter of the lug stud
for optimum clamping power and rechecking lug torque at least twice. also have
someone shake down the front end for bad upper ball joints. tire baron:cool:

wheel spacers/adapters only used if you want the look of a wider stance on the vehicle and /or also used for wheels that dont have the correct bolt pattern. ie: tbirds 5x108 converted to mustang bolt pattern 5x114.3

also, dont forget they set you wheel offset off by at least 1 inch. which means your wheels will stick out 1in or more out of the fender.

All of Brads wheels are custom made for the Tbirds, so they need no mods done

I had spacers custom machined out of round stock aluminum for my MN12. They were a precise fit for the lug pattern and hub diameter. I used them for about 20k miles when I was running my Lincoln LS wheels and never had one single problem; not even a single lug came loose.

I would imagine you would have problems with the cheap, cast universal pieces.

How much do those go for. Make sure they are made from
high grade American alloy and not that cheap Chinese junk.

I paid far less than $250 for a set of four and they are far from garbage. Find a small machine shop and start asking questions.

im just comparing facts with feedback from various companies and others who have wheelspacers. thats all

don't forget these billet spacers need to be "hubcentric" meaning an extra lip
your wheel bore size nees to be machined when ordering....8 buck pep boys
spacers don't have that. maybe thats why pep boys could not survive in oregon,
they sell nothing but cheap sh..-tire baron

Don't mean to bust a thread but Brad, can you still get the Boyd (Junkyard Dogs) wheelsand if so could you get them if I switch to 4.5. I love those wheels. Decisions to make here.
