Why the bloody hell would you WANT another pussyfied 4.6? I'm sure youve seen this many-a-time, but a '99+ gt engine is (or dohc) really the only way to go. You can find a slightly used one for less then 2000 if you look even just a little bit. MUCH better route then a new t-bird 4.6

unless you get the new engine for free :D

and yea, 3400 is too much, i dont care how dressed of a long block it is. even if it has 0 miles its about 3300 too much. im going to ask how much my new engine was and ill be shocked if its anything more than $800. for $2k you can get a warrantied, low mileage 99+ GT engine, why go with a tbird engine for more?

exactly. tbird engines aren't really even worth 1000, maybe 800, but thats about it. They just don't have the cahjones to be worth anything.

well now that my opinion on getting a new t-bird engine has been changed, neone wanna tell me where i can find a new 99+ gt engine and is it worth the money...my bird got about 106k miles and it was my parents car so my dad took very good care of it, i wont be getting my license for about another 9 months but im looking at my options of what to do because of the milage....either dont get nethin big and save for the new engine and tranny, or say screw it n jus start to hook up the stock engine..but its also the question about how much money i have at the time

106k is NOT a big deal with these engines, even more so if they were well cared for.
A NEW 99+ gt engine will cost you anywhere from 3000-5000 dollars, and it would be much cheaper to find a low mileage used one. You can also find warrentyed used engines (not sure where, but have heard of it)

Don't p*ss your money away. Find a really good used GT engine
and buy it ($1600-2100 maybe even less if you're real lucky)
or get a beater with GT heads and rebuild it the way you want
and can afford - you've got the time).

Beat the **** out of that Tbird block until it's dead, then get a GT block. Really, 105K miles isn't a lot, at all. My friends 95 Tbird w/ the 281 has WELL over 200K miles, and he drives it in dead heat, stop and go freeway traffic daily. He also holds out on oil changes, trust me, if anything, save up for a tranny rebuild.

You're a kid like me, and I'll tell you, I barely have enough money to buy Steeda pulleys, let alone afford an engine swap. Save your money for "incase ****" situations. If you do decide to do an engine swap, though, build up your tranny 1st. Have you switched to Mercon V?
