worn valve seal. the smoke came out especially idle for a while right?

94-95 v8 are notorious for this problem.

i think its mostly when i rev it up is it hard to change the valve guide seals?

if its white smoke then you got head gasket problems or a dirty maf.

if its blue smoke then you valve seals are bad.

if it was cool out and you seen the steam from the exhaust then that is a different story. all exhaust makes whitish colored smoke when its cold.

The blown head gasket smoke is very white; and doesn't quit, mine covered both lanes behind me...(83 firebird)

The valve stem seals on these leak and cause bluish-white smoke when you pull out after a throttle closed stop, or after a long coast downhill.

If its continuous, I'd check the plugs for oil fouling; broken rings are possible, but not really likely at 78k. These engines aren't well known for head gasket probs, but the valve stem seals is a known thing.

My red car, at 190k is smoking from the valve stem seals, but it doesn't show on the plugs... yet, anyway. my black one doesn't at all, at 115k.

If all the plugs look good, you are probably fine. They should all look alike, a light tan. If one is extermely clean, like steam-cleaned clean, you could have a head gasket problem. The cylinder with the leak will look pristine from being steam cleaned from the inside...

CHANGE THE GASKET ASAP if you dont want your engine to go bye bye like it did with me. My engine had like 55k when the stupid gasket failed and POOM..... White smoke like a mofo popped out my mufflers....

Puffy white cloud comming out of your exhaust = Oil. My buddy busted one of our test oil-return hoses on his turbo last night, so oil sprayed all over the outside of his turbo and burned. It put out a solid white puff of smoke that covered the entire gas station parkinglot.

Since I see you have a 94 with about 80K walk around back and see if you have fuel dripping out the pipes. 94's were known to throw an injector driver around 80K and hold an injector or two wide open which pours fuel in and causes lots of white smoke and rough running.

it runs like a champ to me i think so to smell of gas or anything if i had a guess it would be the fuel filter makin it run lean its a b*tch to start i have to crank it and crank it there is no way ill get a remote starter on it as is its like the fuel filter doesnt let the fuel pump prime the vehicle

And true that valve guide seals are also famous on the V8, but hope for the injectors as they are much much easier to replace. I would also recommend a compression check just to make sure you havent busted the gasket between cylinders

the ford fuel injectors are hard to kill. you'll wear out the rubber pedal boot before the fuel injector took a dump.

My car has done this for months too. If I sit idling for very long, it puffs out smoke when I finally do take off. Has anyone had it be bad enough they actually had to go as far as having to change the seals? Im just going to live with it for now until I really need to take apart the motor for a rebuild.
