to get a chip from now? Unfortunately, I was not in position to get one when Jerry was still making them. I don't need anything too aggressive since I drive the 'bird 400+ miles a week and still need to get 20+mpg. The car is a '97 with the sport suspension package, 4.6L, and 3.27 gears. I plan on j-modding the tranny in the next few weeks and possibly putting larger gears in (probably 3.55's). Thanks.

you might not notice much of a difference going from 3.27 to 3.55. consider a 3.73 or maybe a 4.10. if mileage is a heavy issue, stay with the 3.27 and upgrade to traction lock if you dont have it already
Talk to Dennis Reinhart.....

I am sure that he can give you added performance and might still be able to keep your gas mileage low as possible. But just remember, performance and gas mileage dont go together.
Give him a call,he knows his stuff about chips,
Chris

not necessarily. from what i've heard, the chip from dennis (which uses the same programs as the chip from jerry) can increase your gas milage anywhere up to 3 MPG.
But just remember, performance and gas mileage dont go together.
When your talking dennis chips (and dom and um...,"the man"), they do. Have seen many a person say gas mileage increased. Personaly, i had a "the man" personal tune, and i gained about 15 hp and ft/lbs, and my gas mileage stayed the same. Of course, my mpg is really ****ty anyway, but thats beside the point.
Ok,but......

with the added performance who is or can actually keep thier foot out of the gas?I couldnt when I had a chip from Dennis in my Mark VIII,and soon I am gonna get a chip from Dennis for my 96 T-Bird.Then you will hear me b!tch about gas mileage, lol.
I saw an increase in gas mileage on the highway while I was cruising at one speed for an extended peroid of time but in town driving, forget it,it is just to tempting when a 5.0 or GT pulls up beside you.

what are those? never seen those before. no one has them. i think they are some kind of exotic supercar or something, ive only heard about them and read about them in magazines
;)

i did see an actual mpg improvement with my chip, but that was about a month after i first installed it and i started keeping my foot out of it.
How much improvement do you guys think I could get with a Dennis chip on a stock 95 4.6 motor with an 80mm MAF and a RichardM tube? Would it be worth the investment without further mods?

definetly worth the investment. you need the chip to run that MAF anyway, so go for it.
Cool, how much do you thin it'll run me to get a MAF and chip?

i cant really quote you a price, just shoot an email to him. he stocks the MAF and the chips so he could give you a price right away. all i can say is expect 350 for the chip and 150 for the MAF, but its probably less, im really not sure. i cant imagine it being more but it may be....

last thing i want to do is quote a price on someone else's product
Alrighty, thanks J-Rob! :)
About $500 for the plugs, MAF, chip, and Tstat.

If you get a chip you cant worry about gas mileage because you will probley ues more gas and + you have to buy a higher octane.

If you can restrain yourself, the Inject-tech chip will give you better mileage. JL posted that he got 28mpg after his car was J'ed up.
You have to buy higher octane gas? I thought you only had to do that if you raised compression or supercharged it. Hmmm...so does the chip actually make the car feel any different?

yes, it makes it feel completely different. the higher octane is needed because of the timing change.

???restrain??? What does that mean?
;)

Restrain is when your seatbelt keeps you safe in the event of a wreck. Other than that, there's no restraint when it comes to driving my car. :)

Close.....I got 20mpg all of the time when stock, and I regularly got 22-24 after the reflash, and a high average of 26.9 a few times. And I do not drive my car like granny either. It gets a good flogging everytime I get in it.I'm hovering around 20-22 now with the 3.73's.
