Was curious why it sounds like it kicks on when i turn my heater on. The motor bogs for a second every now and then when the heater runs. I believe it is killing my gas mileage over the winter. I never use the ac in the summer so i was thinking of just pulling it off or running a short belt. Also can i just disconect the wiring to the ac to resolve the problem now?

Mainly for defogging. I believe it runs when in the def, def/flr, or flr settings. If you set it for the dash vents it won't run. If you have climate control and run in auto mode, it runs as well. Pretty sure that's how it worked on my '93, but I haven't had AC on it for awhile now. The owners manual should cover the AC operation...

It only runs in those positions when it's more than 50 degrees F out - it does this because it will remove moisture from the air. Below 50, the compressor won't kick in.

the ac comp is just a car dehumidifier. so that is why it will kick on at above 50 like above.
