Does anyone know if or where I can get Dupli-Colot touch up spray paint for WZ code? None of the major parts stores stock or can order it. They only have Performance White, which isn’t the came color.
That’s the color. The rust spot and surrounding paint peel is not even 2” in diameter. The rust spot is less than 1”. Perfect is not the ultimate goal; need to stop the rust.
Doesnt exist off the shelf. Across the board for any brand I have never seen pearl white touchup pens, it's a very difficult color to match even for professional bodyshops
Time for some white primer, after you sand the rust off; that's not going to look any worse than any of the other options.
You won't be fixing it so it's invisible without painting the whole car, or at the very least the whole panel.
Painting one panel is problematic, because of the sun fade; you'll have one perfect panel on a faded car.
Where is the rust spot? Most places rust occurs naturally on these comes from inside the panel, so grinding the exterior surface smooth and painting over it will be a very temporary measure.
It is at the upper corner of the rear windshield drivers side on the upper rear corner of the rear quarter panel (not the roof). I think it’s surface rust. Will probably just use Performance White since matching a 22 year old fade is not likely to happen and it’s so small (I hope)
Years ago, I was able to buy the Opalescent touch-up paint bottle. I realized long after the bottle dried up that it never covered well b/c it needed a white base coat first, ie: coat one of the tri-coat system.
I just looked up this site that my Dad recently bought paint from. We used the silver paint for my niece's car. Really nice paint, the best spray I've ever used, goes on really nice and was a perfect match.
My cougar is the opal tricoat pearl white. I bought the touchup paint that comes in a tiny glass jar with a brush from automotivetouchup a few years ago. It's a pretty close match, they ship it as a two part, a base and top coat. It's probably not possible to match it exactly. I just used it on a few small rock chips and scratches and it worked very well for that. It almost seems like the angle and amount of pearl that was originally sprayed on changes the color a bit. Almost like it's a directional paint if that makes sence. Just what I noticed anyway....
I also bought from them a spraycan of Laser red for my Tbird I use to drive. It also isnt a paint color you can buy easily. It came as just a single stage in that color.
Do you have a Maaco in your area? I am in the NW and they are advertising on the radio in Seattle are that they are doing touch up. They have access to all the factory paint colors.
I know paintscratch has them though not sure about the quality.
