I was thinking of removing my resonator and having a Y pipe made. I can't afford to buy a cat back system at this time. How much will this run me? Any ideas what this will sound like with the stock exhaust? Will I feel a gain in power?
Over all good or bad idea?

Thanks
Jim

You don't need to have a Y-pipe made, you can buy a universal Y pipe from Flowmaster, Dynomax, etc, and then have it installed.

Exhuast is kinda of a subjective thing. If you have a v6 (EDIT: just saw sig) I'd say to keep the resonator for sure, as my 89 sounded very ricey when I removed the resonator. I would suggest a flowmaster (40 series) or flowtech (terminator) if you are going to be running mufflers too.

Thanks, I didn't realize anyone made them. I plan on adding a cat back flowmaster system later when funds come in. But untill then I have read that the resonator is very restrictive. So I wanted to do away with this.
Where are these Y pipes sold?

Thanks
Jim
