How would I go about repairing/getting a new odometer? Mines broken and doesn’t work. 1996 Tbird

They sell a kit to fix the odometer gears.

That'll be a tedious job, but not too bad. You just have to take off more interior panels than you might think to get the gauge cluster out.

As an FYI, don't reset the trip ODO while the car is moving in the future. That is a likely reason the gears break.

The most tedious part is removing the gauge bezel without breaking anything. It would be best to drop the steering column to remove it safely. Changing the odometer gears is the easy part - after the bezel is off, you can simply remove the cluster lens / faceplate and the speedometer will pop right out.

Might also be the notorious issue of the wonderful “Made in …” sticker adhesive failing and the sticker falling into the odometer gears so that they stopped turning. Pretty sure that’s what happened to mine, as the odometer stopped working about a year or 2 after putting in a new long block. I had bought a used instrument cluster to replace it along with a set of overlays to change the gauge colors, but life kind of got in the way and I never installed them.
