You will need the entire lower control arm, which comes with a new ball joint and new bushings. To replace just the lower ball joint, you would have to press out the old one, and press in the new one.

The lower shock bolt can be a pain, so read up on old posts about that.

Keep this in mind;

1. You will have to remove the lower control arm to replace the ball joint.

2. You cannot buy the lower control arm to frame bushings separately, they are only sold with a new control arm, which comes with a new ball joint installed.

3. Dollar wise, since you already have the press, you will be saving money there, but losing the chance to replace the bushings.

 

Steve is right on. Anyone who screws with the press is just wasting their time/money.

I believe you're referring to the control arm to K member bushings. I bought a set of MOOG bushings from O'reiley (or howevur u spel it) It was one of those "mission critical weekends and I couldn't find the whole arm anywhere. I pressed them in along w/ new ball joints.

welcome to my world. I happened upon a situation like yours, but I was stuck in a parking lot with 1" of water when it was 32*F outside. My lower shock bolt was siezed into the lower control arm, and I broke 2 dang sockets. It was a great day.

 

Thanks for the info that y'all gave me, I had no air tools so fixing the ball joints in a parking lot was a lost casue, so we got it towed.

That really sounds like it would be bad. I managed to go through 3 tow trunk companies until i found one that could help me out
