I used to hear this but never really believed it. I have 320,000 miles on my 1993 2.3L Ranger. I have personally driven 313,000 of those miles. The best way to warm it up has always been to get in it and drive it. Granted, I don't beat it while it is cold but putting a load on the motor warms it fastest.
