I have a 94 Thunderbird with under 100,000 miles and it had the 10 CD player in the trunk with premium sound. The CD player was working for a while, but suddenly just stopped altogether and I took it to the one place in Houston who can still repair a CD players. Now that I’m examining it, I’ve noticed that the connector seems a little loose.
Tag says F4SF - 14588-BC, connector says E80F-14588-DA.
since removing the unit so it can be looked at my radio has stopped making sound but seems to scan fine.

I will be honest and say I know very little about audio systems in cars, but I am an electrical engineering student so if anyone has expertise/advice/time they can dedicate to helping teach what’s gone wrong I’d greatly appreciate it.

You really have to have a commitment to original equipment, to try and fix an old factory stereo. For $200-250 you can get a pretty nice Kenwood from Crutchfield with install kit, that has CD, Bluetooth, Sirius capability, etc. Make calls handsfree, etc. You'll have at least that into repairing the old one.

R&R = repair and replace. 20th century was repair, 21st century is replace. I am surprised there is still a shop that repairs them. We have one electrical shop left around here. But only one. And they couldn't even handle an alternator repair. But I still paid for it. Twice.

Hi Owen, The reason that you have no sound from the radio is that the CD player is disconnected. The CD player completes a loop. If there's no CD player installed, you need a jumper on the back of the radio instead of plugging in the CD player wiring harness to complete the loop.
